Thailand - February 2012

My 1st Overseas Family Holiday:

My husband and I decided to take the plunge and book our first international family holiday to Thailand with two small children in tow (ages 2 and 9 months).

We decided on Phuket for 10 nights and we picked two different resorts, one in Laguna and the other in Karon, to break the holiday up a little and to experience two completely different areas.

Honestly the flights were tough! The flight going over was a night flight, so of course, the children slept but we didn’t. Only after a good night’s sleep did my husband and I start feeling normal again.

While in Laguna our family holiday consisted of swimming, sleeping and more swimming, which was exactly what we were looking for. The weather was perfect and the Laguna Beach Resort very accommodating for families.

Our next stop was the Centara Grand Karon Resort and I cannot speak highly enough of this resort. The pool area with waterslides and lazy river was incredible. The resort was also perfectly located - right near the beach - so we could choose to swim in either the ocean or the pool at our leisure without any problems.

While we stayed in Karon we also travelled by tuk-tuk into Patong a few times for some shopping and dinner which the kids thought was fantastic.

Even though we were travelling with 2 small children and couldn’t do the usual adventure day trips and tours we had a fantastic and relaxing family holiday and we will definitely be heading off to Thailand with the kids again in 2013.
