LAS VEGAS

LAS VEGAS

We spent 6 crazy nights in the 'city of lights' that never sleeps!!

It's hard to believe that I did live here for a year when I was 18... (fun times).

We landed in Los Angeles and instead of flying to Las Vegas we grabbed a hire car, convertible of course and drove to Las Vegas – took approx 5.5hrs. I did it this way as wanted Julian to experience arriving into Las Vegas at night time as it’s pretty spectacular when you drive through the desert for 5 hours and then all of a sudden you see the Las Vegas lights start to appear!
Only needed to hire the car for 1 day – cost for convertible approx $110aud.
So next day before returning the car we did several laps of the strip in our convertible with top down, music pumping and photo snapping!! Then used the car to drive to the Premium Outlet Shopping Mall South, which is a must, before returning the car.
NOTE that each Casino has a car hire drop-off point so just check which car hire company the casino you are staying in has and be sure to hire through that company so you can just leave it with your parking valet. We stayed at the Palazzo which had an Avis Car Hire drop-off.

Accommodation
The Palazzo Las Vegas Hotel and Casino
Lead in room category is the King Suite which was perfect and big – 720 square feet in size
Connected to The Venetian resort hotel and casino and therefore you can use the facility’s of both.
The gym at the Venetian was the biggest and best gym I have ever seen, rock climbing wall and all

Paris Las Vegas Hotel and Casino
Perfectly positioned right in the centre of the strip
Our room had the best view I could have ever imagined having – it was just perfect.
We looked straight at the Bellagio and therefore had full view of the fountain show and also sunset.
Room smaller in size but perfect for what you need.
Great big pool area and good gym.

Restaurants
The food in Vegas if you know where to go is great and the service is exceptional.
Some top tried and tested spots for you.

Morels French Steakhouse @ The Palazzo - 5 star service, decent portions for a fine dining restaurant, cream corn yum, the fish is all flown in daily, and meat high class....

Vic & Anthony’s Steakhouse – on Freemont Street – award winning menu and great selection of wines

Koi - Japanese @ Planet Hollywood very reasonably priced and great tasting - best sashimi

Mon A Mi Gabi @ Paris - fantastic French food, French Onion soup yum, seafood crepe, country pâté

Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill @ Caesars Palace – perfect spot for a Las Vegas hangover – the “Beef Short-Rib & Cheek Sandwich” was a winner!! Also the Welsh Rarebit Ham Sandwich

Hash House a go go @ The Quad – a must when in Las Vegas – note that 1 meal is big enough for 2 people… Twisted Farm food. Can recommend Andy’s Sage Fried Chicken Benedict and The stuffed burger with Hardwood smoked bacon, Avocado and cheddar.

Nobu Restaurant and Lounge @ Caesars Palace – top class Japanese food, offers teppanyaki tables, sushi bar and a lounge.

Outback Steakhouse – they had the best tasting ribs

Peppermills – good cheap typical American diner – big meals and open 24/7

Shows
There are 8 Cirque du Soleil shows playing nightly in Las Vegas
We went to see “ZUMANITY” @ New York New York casino – a very raunchy, cabaret styled show that has audience interaction, we loved it but you must go with an open mind as you will see lots of boobies!! We had front row tickets

Rock of Ages @ The Venetian – a hilarious, feel-good love story celebrating the great rock songs of the 80’s – takes you back to the times of the big bands with big egos – we loved this show also – lots of FUN…

LA Comedy show @ Bally’s Casino – we bought tickets to this one on the day from the Half Price Ticket booth for $23 per person and the comedians were super funny – definitely worth going.

Tours/Sightseeing
Maverick Helicopters!!
Located right on the strip
We did the 15 minute Vegas Nights Helicopter tour – Enjoy the “city of lights” from the best view possible.
A longer day helicopter tour that I sell often is Maverick’s “Canyon Dream"

The observation deck of the Stratosphere – the tower is the tallest free-standing observation tower in the United States and of course there are some crazy rides at the top!!
And boy did I scream on these rides… The craziest scariest ride I have done called X-Scream. Is a must for those thrill seekers out there.

Go to Downtown Vegas, for the Freemont Street Experience – the light and sound show “Viva Vision Canopy” with more than 12 million lights and shows on the hour every hour in the evening.

Machine Guns Vegas – firearms experience

Extra points
Bellagio has - World’s largest chocolate fountain
Mandalay Bay – “Toptional” Topless pool area
Cosmopolitan – has Marque nightclub and day club & The Chandelier Bar
MGM Grand – Largest Nightclub
Wynn and Encore – XS nightclub

Love Ya Vegas - until next time.......
