About Bettiann

My name is Bettiann and I have worked in the travel industry over a period of many years, starting in the airline industry, to moving on to owning my own travel agency to now being part of the wonderful MTA family of mobile travel agents.

I started in the travel industry with British Airways and spent the majority of that time as a Customer Services Supervisor at Sydney International airport. This was a fabulous career spanning 11 years and gave me a great background in all aspects of airline operations and helping to get the aircraft “off the ground” each day. It also enabled me to pursue my passion for travelling and I was lucky to be able to visit many destinations which have helped me greatly in my current work role. I then left the industry to have my family and returned to own and operate my own Travel Agency.

This again gave me so much valuable experience in learning about so many places, who are the best companies to use for all the clients travel needs and just being able to put all my skills into organizing holidays for my diverse range of clients to places far and wide.

After a period of a few years, I was given the opportunity to join the MTA – Mobile Travel Agents group of mobile agents, and was so happy to do so in October 2007. I am now in my fifteenth year with MTA and could not be happier.

I have visited very many different destinations from all over Asia, the Pacific, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Europe, China including Hong Kong and especially the USA. My tally of USA states at the moment is around 18 and also across the border to Mexico. I am also a fully certified “New York Travel Specialist” with NYC and Company, which is a New York City travel bureau that clients can visit to pick up all their sightseeing information about New York City and the surrounding burroughs.

I love being able to help people with information on all the places I have personally visited, not just overseas but also my varied travel all over Australia. From this personal experience, I also like to provide my clients with my personal information and insights into the area they are travelling too.

I like to ensure as an agent, which I get the chance to do hotel and ship inspections as well as taking in the sights that I would like to be able to tell my clients all about. There is nothing like having firsthand knowledge of so many places to confidently recommend to my clients.

I like to always try and give that individual touch to each booking as I really do care that my clients are getting the best possible service, price and attention they all deserve.

Previous experience

My previous experience in the travel industry was 11 years spent with British Airways working in Reservations and Sales and quickly moving to a Customer Services position at Sydney International airport. This entailed overseeing the aircraft arrival and departure which involved passenger check in, catering, cargo, refuelling and liaising with both Technical and Cabin crew. It certainly was a job that needed lots of organizational skills along with Customer Service.
On my return to the travel industry, I owned and operated a Travelscene American Express office here on the Gold Coast. This frontline busy office meant that again, my organisational skills were very important, and it gave me the opportunity of booking a varied array of travel and destinations for our clients. I was able to gain a lot of invaluable experience learning just how to know what style of holiday would suit all the varied clients we had.

Areas of specialty

I love to specialise in organizing the best holiday possible for my clients, mainly leisure clients who may be looking for something different and tailor made for their needs. That skiing destination that is just right for their particular needs, or a cruise down the Amazon River, a cooking class with a chef in his own home in Hanoi, a visit to Petra in Jordan.

The USA is a country in which I have travelled through extensively around 18 states, so have great first hand knowledge of some of the States that are a bit less travelled by Australians. My favourite area being on the East coast, in the states of Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina.
