Northern California Trip 2024

It had been a while since I was in Northern California so I was excited to go back. San Francisco, with its iconic landmarks and vibrant culture, offers a plethora of activities for travelers. From touring the Giants baseball stadium to indulging in the culinary delights of North Beach, there's something for everyone in the City by the Bay.

Hotel Zephyr Fisherman's Wharf
Located in the popular tourist area of Fisherman’s Wharf and where we stayed. This fun, quirky hotel in a great location with a games rooms, photobooth, firepits to sit around and enjoy smores. My room had two double beds which was very comfortable and it overlooked the outdoor firepits and had a side view of the SkyStar Wheel which was lovely at night.  Vouchers are given for breakfast at the IHOP located next door.  Great 4 star property.

Giants Baseball Stadium Tour at Oracle Park
If you're a sports enthusiast, a tour of Oracle Park, home to the Giants baseball team, is a must. Daily tours offer a glimpse into the stadium's history, including a 10-minute video presentation and a visit to the clubhouse where players prepare for the game.

North Beach Culinary Tour - Taste of Italy
We embarked on a culinary journey through North Beach, known for its Italian eateries and charming cafes. Sample local delicacies such as cannoli from Stella Pastry and clam garlic pizza from Golden Boy Pizza an amazing hole in the wall. A must for foodies and highly recommend.

Bike tour across the Golden Gate Bridge with Blazing Saddles
For an unforgettable experience, rent a bike and traverse the Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito. Enjoy stunning views of the bay and treat yourself to lunch in this picturesque town before catching a ferry back to San Francisco.

Haight-Ashbury District Exploration
Explore the eclectic Haight-Ashbury neighborhood, famous for its bohemian vibe and eclectic shops. You will find many second designer brands here as well.

Santa Cruz
After a few days in San Fran we head south 1.5 hours to Santa Cruiz the original surf town which is a costal gem nested between redwood forest and the Pacific Ocean.  Known for it's iconic boardwalk and the longest wooden wharf on the West Coast it makes an ideal stop along the California coast.

Dream Inn Santa Cruiz
This retro-chic hotel boasts oceanfront rooms with breathtaking views, along with amenities such as a pool and on-site restaurant overlooking the pier. My favourite hotel for this trip.

Roaring Camp Steam Train Ride
We experienced the beauty of California's redwood forests with a steam train ride at Roaring Camp. Here you will find old growth redwood forest that has never been logged and only 20 minutes from Santa Cruz makes it's a great spot for a few hours.

Monterey County
We heading further south another hour to Monterey. Famous for it's beautiful Aquarium which is a must and Stokes Adobe was an amzing historical restaurant we had dinner at located downtown.

Portola Hotel and Spa
Located downtown where we stayed in Monterey close to dining, shopping and Fisherman's Wharf where you will find quirky candy stores, gift shops and food outlets.  Rooms were spacious and comfortable with a la carte brekafast.

Carmel
We venture into the picturesque town of Carmel in the pouring rain and enjoyed wine tasting at Carraciolli Cellars followed by lunch at Bicylette which has amazing Italian food.

Big Sur Coast Drive
We took a scenic drive along Highway 1 just to Bixby Creek Bridge, passing through quaint coastal towns and breathtaking landscapes. Don't forget to stop at Pebble Beach for a leisurely stroll along the famed Seven Mile Drive.

Whether you're exploring the bustling streets of San Francisco or basking in the tranquil beauty of Santa Cruz, the California coast promises an unforgettable adventure at every turn. So contact me to help to start your journey to discover the magic of the Golden State.
