About Erika

Growing up in Switzerland has given me the opportunity to frequently travel around Europe, knowing it like the back of my hand. As a 10 year old had an atlas on my bedside table and it is still a trusted friend with interesting information and although outdated it serves as a historical record of how Europe has changed over the last few decades.

One of my earliest travel experiences was flying on a DC-6 from Basel to London to attend the Soccer World Cup with my family in 1966.

Not long afterwards, I was on my way to start my travel career, living in South Africa working in a Travel Agency with extensive travel to neighbouring countries including Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mauritius and Seychelles.

Returning to Switzerland in 1978, I worked for a tour operator as a tour guide taking groups to the Far East, Egypt and European cities for weekend trips. During this time, I was also stationed in London, running the office there for incoming traffic, later moving to the French West Indies (Guadeloupe), Bangkok and the Maldives looking after incoming passengers and arranging hotel contracts.

Interim periods were spent travelling for my personal education and life experience, covering Bangkok via Indonesian's Islands to Bali, from Mexico to Guatemala, El Salvador, Belize and Honduras all with a rental car, or going back to the Caribbean in the Dominican Republic and Cuba (in the mid 80's when they started issuing visas for individual travelers).

Before migrating to Australia in 1988 I ran a small retail agency on the outskirts of Basel (Switzerland). In the mid 80's I visited the UAE for the first time (when tourism from Europe had just started) and travelled back to Dubai and Abu Dhabi recently to acquaint myself with what is currently on offer.

The 90's were spent raising a family. My passion for travel brought me back to join Sydney International Travel in 2000. I have since been working in the industry mainly putting individual itineraries together for their European, USA/Canada, South America, African or Asia holiday together.

I have recently joined MTA Travel giving me flexibility with the reassurance that an experienced and dedicated team will look after my clients should I be unavailable.

With over 40 years' experience in the travel industry, there is no request I cannot handle, whether it be a luxury small incentive group trip to Vietnam or a 7-week European holiday ending with a QE2 Atlantic crossing to New York. So if you do have a dream or need an inspiration for your next holiday let me help you to arrange an unforgettable experience.

Areas of specialty

Knowing the ins and outs of rail travel in Europe is only one of my specialities, finding the right ski destination for you is another one.
