Tips for Safe Travel

In 2009 I embarked on a holiday of a life time for 3 months travelling mostly by myself! As a female travelling alone, this can often come as risk. Below I have listed a few hints to ensure you travel safely on your next holiday:

  • Always be aware of your surroundings. No need to be paranoid but definitely a need to be aware
  • Never leave your wallet in your back pocket or on your body where it is easily accessible, on the bar or unattended (you are not at home!)
  • Listen to advice from locals, in the end they always know best
  • Always take at least two bank cards with you and carry them on separate parts of your body (if one is gone you need to know you have another source of money!)
  • Lock your bags when travelling on public transport as well as when you are on your flights
  • Last but not least, enjoy but never drop your guard you can relax still knowing your surroundings

VISAS VISAS VISAS...

Visa’s are one of the most worrying aspects of my job as a travel agent! I have been known to lose sleep over Russian Visa’s in my time (and that was just my own!) My main piece of advice is check every destination as to whether you require a visa and be organised!

Below is a top 5 destinations that you require visa’s for before you leave Australia:

  • Russia
  • China
  • Brazil
  • Vietnam
  • India

If you don’t know or are unsure if you require a visa just ask!
