My Travel Tips

  • When looking to book frequent flyer redemption tickets try and work your schedule to include mid week travel. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays are generally less popular days to travel and you stand a better chance of finding a redemption seat. If you are looking to travel during school holidays or other peak times book 11 months in advance.
  • Always travel with a good sense of humour.
  • Understand that not everything is going to be like it is at home. If it is then there is no need to travel as you have already been there.
  • Respect and embrace the local culture.
  • Sample the food, wine and beer.
  • Ensure you have travel insurance cover and the necessary vaccinations prior to departure.
  • Register your travel plans with www.smartraveller.gov.au
  • Blend in. Try not to be too obviously a tourist, dripping in jewellery, camera round your neck and upside map in your hands.
  • Know where your passport and credit cards are at all times.
