Carnival Splendor

Recently I was onboard Carnival Splendor which arrived in Sydney for the first time after a refresh in Singapore.    Splendor is a larger ship than Spirit with a capacity of 3,700 guests and spans over 14 Decks.

When you first board, you will be hit with the unusually bold Carnival Style mostly themed in Pink, however once you see past the slightly out there décor, there is a lot to enjoy.

There are 4 new dining options.  Two which are included in the fare being Masala Tiger (Indian) and a 24 hr Pizzeria del Capitano, plus two at an additional charge being Farenheit 555 (Steakhouse) and the Seafood Shack.    The usual favourites of Guys Burger joint, Redfrog bar, BlueIguana and Alchemy Bar have also been refreshed.

There are completely All New Waterparks, including one for toddlers with minislides, and another area with waterbuckets and the yellow Twister and Green Thunder slides suitable for the older kids and adults alike!   The Serenity bar and pool area at the back of the ship is a great place for Adults to relax.

The main pool deck has a retractable roof which closes, making this area available in all weather.

Other facilities included Cloud9 Spa with thermal suits, steambaths and a thalassotherapy pool.

The stage shows and Entertainment are always my favourites and Carnival do these very well. Splendor has introduced aerial acts and a number of live entertainment venues.

Getting around the ship was a little tricky at times as you can’t walk from one end to the other on all decks without diverting through a restaurant.  This took me some time to work out!

All in all, it is not a Ship for everyone but I believe Carnival Fans will enjoy the new features onboard the Splendor which is making Sydney it’s homebase for now.
