Fiji - 2012

I was lucky enough to visit Fiji for the 3rd time in February 2012 with my family and friends. Having a 20 month old and being 22 weeks pregnant we felt we needed a break before things got hectic at home. And Fiji is the perfect holiday.

Only 4 hours from Australia makes it a great destination with kids, especially little ones. You could easily go just for 3 days.

We stayed at the Sheraton Resort and Spa Fiji, as I wanted to check out the newly renovated rooms. They did not disappoint. The room faced the ocean and was right near one of the several pools in the resort complex. When staying at the Sheraton you have access to the Westin Resort and also the Sheraton Villas, so there are plenty of dining options and lots of different pools to try out.

Our 20 month old son loved the place and is constantly asking when are we going back to “bula”? The staff at the resort love children and are so friendly, nothing is too much trouble. Remember though that you are on “island time”, so patience is required.

Hot Tip - you can purchase a Starwood Privilege Card for $319 per year and this gives you a host of benefits, most importantly being 50% of your food bills when dining at any Starwood property in Australia and Fiji.

The Flying Fish Restaurant by the main pool and on the beach at the Sheraton Resort is our favourite dining option for both lunch and dinner - delicious fresh seafood! All of the Sheraton dining venues have a great kids menu and it is FREE when they are dining with a paying adult - awesome. Kids Eat and Stay free at nearly every resort in Fiji.
