Holiday in Myanmar - Yangon

Yangon is Myanmar's largest city, was formerly known as Rangoon and is a former capital of Myanmar.

Most people will stop in Yangon for a couple days - before heading off to the temples of Bagan, the beaches or Inle Lake. Yangon is the city that most international airlines fly into, although a few like Air Asia now have flights into Mandalay.

It is a great city to explore on foot, there are still many colonial builidings standing from the "British" days. Infact Yangon has the largest number of colonial buildings in Southeast Asia today.
Yangon has some great colonial hotels like The Strand and The Governor's Residence by Orient Express.

There is quite an art scene emerging in Yangon, there are numerous art galleries to visit. The Bogyoke Aung San Market (it was called Scott Market by the British - many still refer to it by that name) has some great shopping.
