From performing arts to behind-the-scenes cricket tours, there's something for everyone here.

Cultural Attractions of Australia showcases some of Australia's most exclusive backstage tours and experiences across the performing arts, sports museums, and historical sites.

The Sydney Opera House is world renowned, but beyond the curtains, travellers can gain exclusive access with the Taste of Opera – which includes a backstage tour, optional cocktails and canapés (or dinner party), and a private recital of famous arias by a world-class opera singer.Opera Australia, Australia’s national opera company, offers the opportunity for a walk-on role with the Star at the Sydney Opera House experience, where travellers are fitted with a handmade costume and receive firsthand guidance from the assistant director, plus make-up and hair for an appearance in a live Opera Australia opera on the stage of the Sydney Opera House.

In Victoria, Arts Centre Melbourne shines as the nation’s largest performing arts venue with music, opera, theatre, and dance. The VIP All Access Tour guides travellers through the Centre’s hidden corridors and backstage spaces to treasures such as the Australian Music Vault, where you can get up close to the best in Aussie music, and to the country’s biggest performing arts archive, accessible to only a privileged few. A gloved guide reveals iconic costumes and artifacts (which could include Kylie Minogue’s famous gold hot pants or Dame Joan Sutherland’s bejewelled costumes).

The beloved Melbourne Cricket Ground, or MCG, is home of the Australian Football League’s grand final, among other sporting and historic events. The MCG Private Tour Experience provides an exclusive guided tour of the landmark stadium, including areas otherwise off-limits to fans. Step onto the hallowed MCG turf, access the cricket viewing rooms, and go behind the scenes of the prestigious Melbourne Cricket Club. Another venue, the Adelaide Oval in the heart of South Australia’s capital city, remains one of the country’s most prestigious venues. Explore it all with the Adelaide Oval Legends Tour, a behind-the-scenes look at the Bradman Collection, dedicated to Australia’s greatest ever cricketer, Sir Donald Bradman.

Another important cultural element is Australia's history. Through its huge collection of stories and artifacts, the Australian War Memorial in Canberra commemorates the sacrifice of Australians who served and died in times of conflict. The moving Soul of the Nation experience, hosted by an expert guide, reveals rare war time letters, photographs and diaries.

In Tasmania, the UNESCO-listed Port Arthur Historic Site brings Australia’s early convict history to life. The iconic Wheel of Fate experience invites travellers to go behind bars with a guided evening exploration of this infamous prison settlement to see where Port Arthur’s most notable inmates worked, slept, and ate. The experience includes a three-course dinner utilising ingredients sourced from Tasmania's incredible local producers.

Tasmania’s Museum of Old and New Art (Mona) in Hobart is the largest privately owned museum in the country, with incredible artworks, from ancient Egyptian funerary objects, a waterfall of words, and even a machine that mimics the human digestive system. But for a truly memorable Mona experience, nothing can trump Dinner with David, a private dinner with Mona’s founder and artistic mastermind, David Walsh. The dinner date includes private jet transfers from Sydney or Melbourne, and a luxury stay at Mona's riverfront pavilions, a guided tour of the museum with a curator, and a behind-the-scenes tour of Mona’s on-site winery, Moorilla.

Some restrictions currently apply on private tours due to COVID however we anticiapte they will be up and running later this year.
