Kuching, Borneo - May 2013:

Kuching is the capital city of Sarawak state on Borneo Island and is one of the hidden gems of South East Asia. I stayed in Kuching as a springboard for visiting the nearby rain forest and it’s most famous inhabitants the gorgeous Orang-utans. I really wanted to visit these amazing primates in their natural habitat, before that is sadly no longer possible. What an amazing experience! To see these ‘men of the forest’ swinging from tree to tree and hear them talking to each other made for some incredible memories.

The city itself was also a surprise packet. Large and busy, but clean and quiet. The people are friendly and the food outstanding. If you want a holiday in Asia, but don’t want to deal with the noise and hassle that you might find in other large cities, then Kuching is the place for you. I will definitely be heading back to Kuching again.
