Driving Holidays in Canada

Canada is a very beautiful place to do a self drive road trip if that is your travel choice. If doing a driving holiday, especially through July (summer school holiday time) be sure to plan and book your accommodation ahead. If you resort to last minute accommodation, you may end up with expensive rooms and possibly a smoker’s room if it is the last one left. Make good use of the Information Centres, as they offer much local knowledge, maps and pamphlets. They will even book ahead accommodation in many cases. Walking is often the best method of discovering little hidden treasures, especially if you choose to walk back off the main thoroughfares, after checking that the area is safe. Ask your inn keeper for a local map and places of interest to walk. Food is often cheaper off the main thoroughfare too. A smile will open up the world to you. The locals love to talk and share their piece of the world with visitors. Carry some shopping bags (in your car boot or luggage) to pop dirty shoes into, should you accidently find a muddy discovery. Also useful for wet clothes, should the need arise. If you have room, a pair of binoculars is always a useful addition to make the best of great vistas and wild life viewings. You can never take too many photos as you create memories for a lifetime. Purchase postcards too as they often capture scenes that it may not be possible for you to capture. A MasterCard Cash Passport will work very well. You simply use it like you would a credit card and no need to carry cash on you. Most hotels provide free wireless internet as well as a computer and printer. Just enjoy.
