Vietnam - January 2012
This was a great family holiday hitting all of the high points of a holiday in this amazing destination. We combined shopping and sightseeing in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City with a 3 day trek through the minority areas near Sapa. The kids really enjoyed the home stay where we stayed with a local Hmong family and got to see the way a traditional village operates. The photo below shows Bac Ha markets in an area peopled by the Flower Hmong. It was fabulous to check out the water buffalo and all the other animals for sale and watch the ladies dressed in their traditional dress carrying out their business in the market. The highlight in the south of the country was our cruise up the Mekong in a luxury sampan to the Cambodian border.
