Tokyo
Tokyo is a great city to experience modern Japan which is a curious mix of western consumerism blended, mixed and stirred with traditional Japanese cuture . The cocktail that emerges makes Tokyo a really happening place where shiny new technology and the latest gadgets sit alongside quiet temple courtyards and ladies wearing Kimonos.
Must see cultural sites include the Imperial palace, Asakusa temple, Meiji temple and gardens which are a lovely respite from the crowded streets.I also really love getting up early and going to Tsjuki fish market where you can see a $10,000 tuna being carved with a samari sword.
For all things techno ,watches,cameras and electronics head to Akihabara Electric town which as the name suggest is pretty impressive at night. To see the famous cosplay girls head off to Harajuku. The girls dress like manga characters with a punk twist.... to me they look like Little Bo Peep on acid.
If shopping is your thing hit the streets with all of the young and hip in Shinjuku and Shibuya.
To finish the day off head over to Roppongi famous for it's world class restaurants and bars.
