Golden Princess - 2 Day Sampler November 2016

We decided a short break getaway with some friends is just what we needed.

This is one of the biggers ships unable to dock at Hamilton, so off to Fishermans Island at the Port of Brisbane we went.  Approximately 400 passengers disembarked off this cruise which was on it's way back from Beijing, which allowed another 400 passengers to sample her for the next 2 days.

We booked a mini-suite, very spacious, separate lounge/sitting area with a 2nd television, full bath with quite a big vanity area.  Being an Elite member also meant we were greeted by our cabin steward with champagne on arrival and a stocked mini bar.  If you are not happy with the items in the bar they will swap for your choice of liquor.

Straight to the pool bars we went, pina coladas, strawberry daiquiris were our first point of call.  This ship had a great top bar area which overlooked the pool below, as well as another bar on the pool level itself.  Then off to have lunch in the buffet restaurant, a good mix of food and a separate buffet area just for desserts.

At 3pm we found out it was happy hour at one of the bars, purchase one drink get the 2nd for $1, proven to be very popular amongst guests.   Then it was off to bingo with cocktail in hand, and yes I did call out my very first bingo aboard a cruise ship.

The main dining had great options from seafoods, steaks and an amazing pistachio chocolate mousse for dessert.

Things to do onboard included:

  • Casino
  • Shopping
  • Mini Golf
  • Sports Court
  • Nightclub
  • Bingo
  • Movies Under the Stars
  • Broadway shows (BABBA - ABBA show was on our cruise)
We had a great 2 nights at sea, very comfortable, but 2 days is just not long enough to enjoy all the features of this ship.

Happy Cruising.
