Mt Lofty House S.Australia

So close, yet I had never visited.

Last week I took a day out to drive up into the beautiful Adelaide Hills and visit one of South Australia historical homes, Mt Lofty House. Originally built in 1852 by an English lawyer, Arthur Hardy, it was all but destroyed in the Ash Wednesday bushfires of 1983. However it rose again when a local architect, Ross Sands, recognised its potential and set about restoring it to its original glory.

The beautifully house is now part of the MGallery by Sofitel collection. It offers guests the best of both world; convenient access to Adelaide plus an opportunity to get away from it all. It is nestled amongst 18 acres of native trees and English-style rose gardens, overlooking the magnificent Piccadilly Valley. Close by, you can find the Mt Lofty Botanical gardens, a National Park, a golf course, the historical towns of Hahndorf and Stirling and the wine region for which the Adelaide Hills are famous.

A new part of the complex and offering a more contemporary experience is the stunning 6 star, Sequoia Lodge. Offering 14 luxurious suites all with breathtaking views and impeccable, personal service, it is due to open its doors in late 2020.

The combination of 3 Chef Hat restaurant Hardy's Veranda, Stables Day Spa, the Hills’ finest accommodation and spectacular Australian countryside, Mount Lofty House offers a truly memorable experience.
