Travel Essentials

Passport Validity:

Ensure your passport has at least six month's validity from the date of your return to Australia.

Travel Insurance:

The cost for travel insurance should always be part of your total travel budget. Remember, if you can't afford travel insurance, you can't afford to travel.

Visas:

Ensure that you have the right visa/s for the country/is you are visiting or transiting.  I am able to assist you with these prior to leaving Australia.

Health:

Check all health precautions and information on recommended vaccinations for the country/ies you are visiting.  Always ask your doctor for advice on this.  If you are taking medication overseas, discuss with your doctor if any documentation is required to accompany it.

Clothing and Customs:

Be aware of the clothing requirements of the country/ies you are visiting as some countries have different standards to what is acceptable attire in Australia.  Be respectful of the traditional customs and obey the laws of the country/ies you are travelling to.

Travel Itinerary:

It is always a good into leave a copy of your complete itinerary, including contact numbers for hotels etc., with family or friends before you depart so they know where you are.

Airport Arrival Transfer:

Travelling from Australia can be very tiring, particularly with long haul flights to the USA or the UK. I find it a welcome sight when I arrive at my destination to find a driver waiting with my name on his board, ready to take me to my hotel, hassle free. It is well worth paying the extra cost for an airport arrival transfer after your long flight.

Smartraveller.gov.au

It is always a good idea to register your plans with Smartraveller.gov.au before leaving Australia.  In case of an emergency, the registration information you provide will help them to contact you.

Foreign Currency:

Cash Passport Cards are a good, safe way to carry your money. There are many to choose from and some offer multiple wallets for different currencies if that is what you require. These can also be reloaded if need be. If you are wishing to exchange some cash before you depart, The Australian Post Office offers a very good service for this with good rates. You will need to order your currency, so ensure that you do this in plenty of time before you leave Australia.
