Bali, Indonesia - December 2013

Bali, Indonesia  - 01 December 2013, 7 nights

Travelling with kids, particularly younger ones, can be very stressful for many families, there are so many things that can go horribly wrong, sometimes enough to put families off travelling altogether. How are the kids going to sit still on the plane for so long? What if we leave something at home? What if they don’t like the food on the plane? What if one has an embarrassing accident or is sick whilst on the plane? What if my kids don’t go to sleep? How will they adjust to the new time zone? Weather? Foods? etc. Yes, any of these things may happen, but the key is preparation. My kids are lucky enough to have travelled a couple of times on a plane now so perhaps they are familiar with how it all works and what happens, but even from the start a well prepared Mum and Dad equals an enjoyable holiday for all. For hints and tips of how to travel with kids, please contact me directly. Luckily for us, this is exactly how our holiday was. We were well prepared and we ALL had an awesome time.

We stayed for 7 nights at the amazing Patra Jasa resort and Spa in South Kuta. This 4 ½ star beachside resort is far enough away from Kuta that you are not close to the noises and business of the party zone, yet less than a 30 minute stroll down the beach and you’re there. A typical Balinese style resort, yet with modern facilities. It’s not the most stunning resort in Bali, nor did we want it, but it suited us perfectly. We stayed in an Embassy Suite of which there are 2 different types. Our one was a 2 story apartment style suite with the master suite and ensuite upstairs, and a small living room and kids bedroom downstairs. The room came complete with 3 air conditioners and 3 flat screen TV’s. We were about a 2 minute slow walk to the impressive Kintamani pool (the main pool) where we spent a lot of our family time and this was one of the highlights of our trip. The pool is big enough that you feel like you are the only one in it. However, if it does get a little crowded, there are 2 other pools located away from this one in which you can also enjoy.

Featuring 3 restaurants, 5 bars (including a swim up pool bar) and a kids club, we found this hotel to be well priced and perfect for what we wanted. I also just want to make a point that this resort is not just for families, infect only about 30% of guests at this hotel are staying as families with kids. This hotel is suited to older guests, honeymooners and business travellers. The sheer size of the resort is a little off putting to some, however a quick phone call to reception and a golf buggy will be at your door in 2 minutes to take you anywhere in the resort you choose to go to.

I will point out the highlights of our Bali holiday in a separate travel diary entry, which will be available soon.
