Report on Adaaran Properties in the Maldives
I was fortunate to stay at and experience 6 of the Adaaran properties which included: Meedhupparu, Prestige Water Villas Meedupparu, Hudhuran Fushi, Prestige Ocean Villas Hudhuran Fishi, Rannalhi and Vadoo. Each of the properties were different but there was an underlying theme, good management. All of the staff loved their job and each G.M had worked for Adaaran for many years. Adaaran prides itself on sustainability, looking after their staff, the land where their properties are situated and maintaining their facilities.
Each resort has several things in common.
Firstly, they have amazing independent structures that have been built and need to be maintained. This includes electricity and communications, waste management, a desalinisation plant, cleaning, and each island pretty well has to import everything. Management must battle the weather, transportation, staff and clients to name but a few.
Secondly, they all have similar activities which include, ground and water sports, ocean excursions, fishing trips, village tours and specialty dinners.
Thirdly, their facilities include a spa, shops (souvenirs and essentials, photo/paint, jewellery, resort clothes), a sports/dive centre, games area, doctor, bars, and restaurants.
Fourthly, accommodation. Over water and beach bungalows.
Fifthly, 24-hour reception, landing docks and boats for transportation.
