Rannalhi island sits exclusively at the southern tip of the South Male Atol. It is a small, beautiful island surrounded by a reef. It only takes 10 minutes to walk around this lush paradise. It is around 45 minutes by speed boat from Male.
This resort has a very high occupancy due to good management and special deals. The general mangaer is Sumeda Yasasatne who is supported by JK and a large male staff.
There are two types of accommodation at this resort. 26 overwater bungalows and 96 standard rooms that are in two story buildings that circumnavigate the island. Each building contains 4 standard private airconditioned rooms with a balcony. The rooms come complete with all the modern amenities and are in pristine condition. The male staff at this resort are very artistic and great at decorating the bed each evening with flowers.
There is a large breezy restaurant that caters for 300 guests and serves a buffet meal three times a day. Adding to this are a further 2 bars that serve snacks. There are the usual gift shops, a beautiful Balinese beautician complex and a dive shop where you pay for finns and other equipment.
Activities include specialitiy dining on the beach, dolphin and village tours plus diving and fishing. However the most exciting tour was feeding the sharks. This $37.00 adventure should not be missed. It takes place early in the morning. You sail about a kilometer from the island on a dhoni. Here the crew start throwing chopped fish pieces into the water and the sharks swarm in. I have never seen as many grey nurse sharks. All fighting for the food. Some are over 2 meters long. It was a spectacular frenzy!
