Adaaran Vadoo Resort Maldives March 2023
Vadoo Resort on the South Male Atoll is only a 15 minute speed boat ride from Male. It is an older ***** resort with 50 stand alone, large over water villas. (95 sq mts). There are 4 Honeymoon villas, 6 Japanese style and the others classified as either Sunrise or Sunset. I stayed in a Sunrise villa.
All villas have a nice plunge pool, jacuzzi, large balcony, 2 indoor sunbeds, a double outdoor sunbed, expresso coffee machine, sound system and butler. Though the rooms are a little dated they are bright and airy and could easily be updated with a soft refurb. Each villa is completely private and the large bed looks out to the water.
My favourite aspect of Vadoo was Farivalhu Restaurant which served a 4 course a la carte meal for both lunch and dinner along with an Indian buffet. You could see the kitchen through the windows from the dining room. On return from my line fishing trip the chefs cooked my grouper, barracuda and snapper for my dinner. Delicious! the resort also notes a small Japanese restaurant and an outdoor cafe and bar set amongst the maniqued gardens.
As to activities, there is free fish feeding every afternoon along with fishing and day trips to Male. Snorkelling is as easy as walking down the steps from your balcony into the crystal clear waters where fish are abundant. Due to the live coral you need reef shoes but it is only a short swim to the reef that surrounds the island. I saw a shark within 20 meters of my stairs.
Vadoo is well managed by Sanjaya Senarayake. Due to easy access, the best meals in the Maldives and abundant marine life, it is a great place to stay.
