The Journey
Our adventure began with Singapore Airlines from Brisbane to Male, with a brief stopover in Singapore (pro tip: Singapore's efficient & beautiful airport makes it my preferred stopover choice). A lovely surprise awaited us on the final leg when the cabin crew presented us with a "happy honeymoon" chocolate cake – a thoughtful touch that set the tone for our romantic getaway.
My first glimpse of the Maldivian waters left me speechless – well, almost. Every time I went outside I yelled: "Look at the water!!!". The impossible shades of blue surrounding these islands have to be seen to be believed.

The Ultimate Overwater Experience
Our first three nights were spent at Adaaran Prestige Vadoo, an adults-only haven where every villa sits gracefully over the crystal-clear lagoon. From the moment we arrived, we were immersed in luxury, starting with welcome drinks at the Kandholi Overwater Sky Bar. Here, I discovered what might be the best cocktail of my life – a mysterious peach-flavored creation that became the stuff of legends (and sadly, slightly fuzzy memories).
Culinary Excellence
The dining experiences at Vadoo were nothing short of extraordinary. Kithajima Japanese Restaurant set a high bar on our first night, but it was the surprise three-course private candlelit dinner on the beach that truly captured the essence of romantic Maldivian nights. The star of the show, however, was Farivalhu Fine Dining Restaurant, where the chef personally ensured we sampled every culinary delight, including an Indian buffet that ranks among the best meals of my life.
Unforgettable Encounters
While the overwater villa experience alone is worth the journey, our snorkeling adventure with nurse sharks was truly spectacular. Swimming alongside these gentle giants as they fed was both thrilling and surreal – definitely a bucket-list moment that my clients need to experience.

A Different Perspective
Our seaplane transfer to Meedhupparu (another bucket-list tick!) brought us to a larger, more family-oriented island. Our oceanfront villa offered a different but equally beautiful perspective of the Maldives, perfect for those who prefer to keep their feet on solid ground.

The culinary highlight here was again the Indian buffet at Sufura Restaurant. We explored several dining options, including the exclusive Watervilla Restaurant (typically reserved for overwater villa guests – one of the perks of being in the industry!), and enjoyed another magical beach dinner at Thavaa Restaurant.
Marine Life Encounters
While our dolphin cruise didn't deliver, our snorkeling expedition more than made up for it. Despite slightly murky waters, swimming alongside dozens of sea turtles and two majestic manta rays was an experience that will stay with me forever.
