Travel Tips

- When travelling I always carry hand sanitiser, baby wipes are also great as they are good for sensitive areas, so you can use them on your face as well as your hands. A great idea is to always have a chap stick handy in your bag to sooth dry lips.
- Passports: Always ensure that your passport has at least a 6 month validity left on it from the date that you return back into Australia. Also always take photo copies of your passport and itinerary and leave them with family members back home just in case things get lost and so that they know roughly where you are at all times.
- Visas: Always insure that you have relevant visas for the countries that you are visiting. For information regarding visas and passports, as well as registering on with Smartraveller visit: www.smartraveller.gov.au
- Always check with your doctor regarding your particular medical conditions for while you are travelling before you leave and also check to see if you require any vaccinations for your journey. If you need to take a lot of medication with you for your holiday period away, it’s a good idea to get a letter of all your medications from your doctor.
- Travel Insurance: It doesn’t matter what kind of travel you are doing or where you are going. Travel Insurance is a must for any type of travel - always make sure you are covered.
- Travel Money Cards: Travel Money Cards are a great idea as you load them up in the currency of the country that you will be travelling to, and you know that you are using your own money so it helps eliminate you overspending!
- Local Currency: Having some money in the currency that you are going to is also a great idea as you may need to have some money on you for Airport baggage trollies, taxis, food and coffee for when you first arrive at your destination.
- A good tip it to take a business card of the hotel you are staying at with you to show the driver when catching a taxi or going on public transport.
- Mobile Phones: Ensure you turn off data roaming before you leave. I suggest spending some time looking into overseas phone plans before you travel and seeing who offers the best deal at that time, as mobile phone companies are constantly changing.
- Security: Always be aware of your surrounding when travelling on public transport in foreign countries especially in crowded busses and trains. Watch your wallets and bags at all times. Try and travel as light as you can and leave all your expensive jewellery and bags at home and there’s no need to take all your cards with you - like gym memberships and reward cards leave them at home.
- Tips while Cruising: When cruising for more than 10 days, I always take an Antibacterial pump hand wash with me to put in the bathroom. I find this really handy, it’s really convenient and it insures that you stay germ free for the whole time. I find that one will last for a two week cruise. There is no need to fill your luggage and take towels with you when cruising as fresh towels are provided daily on board and beach and pool towels are also available for your use. I always suggest that if there is a shore tour that you are interested in doing book it before you go as the popular ones fill up fast and you may miss out you can always change it if you need to within a certain time after you board.
