Holiday here this year - I am an Aussie specialist!
I’m calling it now – naming 2021 as the year of travelling domestically.
The lack of international travel in 2020 has delivered the unintentional blessing of reminding us that we are so lucky to live where we live and that we should all get out and ‘Holiday Here This Year’.
Tourism Australia offers industry members the ‘Aussie Specialist Program’, which is created and managed by Tourism Australia and the nation's State and Territory Tourism Organisations. The Aussie Specialist Program is designed to give me the knowledge and expertise needed to sell Australia, making me an expert on every part of the country, and keeping me updated so I can offer you the best possible service. The learning modules that I completed on the way to becoming an ‘Aussie Specialist’ have been an in-depth look into destinations, but also experiences.
The learning modules include subjects that range from ‘Great golf courses of Australia’ to ‘Aquatic and coastal’, and from ‘Great walks of Australia’ to ‘Youth experiences’.
Two separate modules really grabbed my attention, though – ‘Aboriginal experiences’ and ‘Australian Wildlife Journeys’. These are areas that I feel are a bit neglected by us travelling within our own borders and that is a real shame, because these are exactly the two main reasons that overseas travellers come TO Australia to experience.
Using my ‘Aussie specialist’ training I can craft an itinerary that will deliver you the best of Australia on a plate. You could visit with an Aboriginal community on the Tiwi Islands, or see killer whales in the wild at Bremer Canyon off the WA coast. Take a guided walk of Kata Juta and the base of Uluru with some local custodians or go in search of the elusive platypus in the Blue Mountains just outside of Sydney. The options are endless!
