Top tips when travelling for business
Travelling for business can be at short notice but for most it's well planned. Let me share some important tips with you, on how you can really prepare yourself for seamless travel.
1. Passports - It's important to ensure your passports have a minimum of 6 months validity for all International travel. Passport renewal can take time, so it's always advisable to check that you have the minimum validity.
2. Visas - If you are travelling to just 1 country, it's probably not too difficult to check on visa requirements, but if you are traveller Round the World, it's imperative to check visa requirements for each country, paying special attention to transits and stopovers too.
3. Travel Insurance - Need I say that this is another most important tip. Check to see that you have sufficient cover. Register your travel and contact details online before you travel to make it easier to contact you in an emergency, whether it's a natural disaster, civil disturbance or family issue. The registration information you provide is protected by Australia's privacy laws.
4. Do some research on the country you are visiting and learn about the cultural differences and surroundings so that you are not in for any surprises.
5. Pack accordingly - As light as possible, taking only the important things you need. Perhaps the trick is to put aside everything you think you need and then start selecting a few from that . Overpacking can cause you unnecessary weight and money.
6. Always remember to scan a copy of all documents, including visas, passport page, travel Itineraries, Electronic tickets, hotel accommodation vouchers and anything relevant onto your phone. Keep a hard copy of all documents in your luggage bag as well.
7. Don' forget to pack mobile charges, laptop charges and any batteries that you need to pack to be able to work effectively whilst abroad.
8. Ensure that your flights are reconfirmed and you have booked your seat and checked in within 24hrs. For those who are members of a frequent flyer programme, be sure you know your privileges and enjoy access to various lounges etc.
These are some of the tips that come to mind when I advise my travellers on their business trip. I have all their itineraries loaded on an itinerary builder app which is completely complimentary when they travel on business with me. With that app, they are able to even message me from that app to me directly when they need any assistance or even to just say " Hi, am having an amazing time".
Hope these tips will help you on your next trip.
