Tips on how to choose your travel destinations

We all love the idea of travelling. Travelling enriches our life experiences. We learn about the vast cultures, lifestyles, cities we visit and their popularity, food culture, mannerisms, human culture and much more.

Many of us are bound by factors that affect our holidays, like for example:

1. Travelling off-peak to beat the crowds - school holidays.

2. Budget

3. Availability of the rest of the family

4. Seasons - some prefer to travel in Summer, but summer months could result in a price hike, or perhaps during winter, ski resorts are either packed or charge a premium.

Here are some tips on how you can choose your next travel destination and the questions you need to have answers to, in order to make that dream come true.

These are my personal tips, so they may not resonate with you personally, but it's a general guide.

1. Think about what you actually want to achieve, going on this break? Are you looking for tranquillity, peace and a really relaxed holiday, or are you keen on a high packed supercharged trip where every day you get to do or see something?

No 2 peple are alike. For example, if you are wanting to get away from the stress of the day to day life, then you would consider a "wellness" holiday? Somewhere where you can experience peace and recharge yourself?

2. Budget - How much are you willing to spend? Are you into luxury or are you on a specific budget? Speak to your Travel Adviser about your budget and she/he can attempt to curate trips accordingly.

3. Check the safety records of the country/cities and flights you choose. it's important to have the most current security information of the city you are visiting. Safety should be the number one priority amongst all.

4 Check reviews of others who have been to the cities lived in the accommodation you are keen to look at and also flights.

5. Perhaps you want to travel during festivals, like Holi festival in India, Thailand for Songkran, London for Wimbledon, etc . Or for fishing or skiing. check when is the best time to travel for those hobbies.

6. Once you have researched, don't procrastinate. Just book it all and start preparing mentally and emotionally for your trip.
