Lifting the Lid on Cruising

Have you ever wondered if cruising was for you?  Have you found the sheer number of different cruise options overwhelming?

Today we are here to lift the lid on what cruising has to offer!

So, let’s sit back relax and “Set Sail”

S is for Savings

Cruising is often thought to be an expensive outing but when you consider all the inclusions it is surprisingly affordable, with accommodation, transport, mouthwatering food, Broadway equivalent entertainment and even some shore excursions included in the cost.  Dependent on the style of cruising you choose, you may not even need to put your hand in your wallet at all!

E is for Exploration

Exploration cruising has increased in popularity and due to client demand cruise lines are now adding more adventurous destinations to their portfolio.  Some are even designing new vessels to meet these needs. Scenic Eclipse is the worlds first Discovery Yacht and its maiden voyage is August 2019.  This vessel includes an onboard submarine, helicopter & has a Polar rating of 6 to ensure a safe passage through all waters. Perfect for those trips to the Antarctic.  Cruise lines understand that clients are wanting to learn more about their destinations and often carry Regional Experts who are thrilled to pass on their expertise.

T is for Tantalizing food

Don’t be fooled into thinking that cruising is all about tired, dried out ‘buffet’ food!  Food is all important when it comes to cruising, known for their sumptuous food selections many cruising lines are also adding unique dining experiences, engaging celebrity chefs to design menus for their onboard restaurants. Jamie Oliver on Royal Caribbean, Marco Pierre White on P&O and Curtis Stone works with Princess Cruises.  Great way to experience a Michelin star chefs’ menu without the large price tag.

S is for Shore Excursions

With so much to offer on board, you may never want to disembark.  But experiencing the destination can be just as much fun, many cruise lines now including all their shore excursions in the cost.  Whether it be a cooking class in Italy, bike riding in Bordeaux or spotting the northern lights in Alaska, there is something for everyone.

A is for amazing on-board experiences

Parents are used to hearing from their kids ‘I’m bored’.  Image a holiday where you don’t hear this once!  Cruising can be the answer.  Looking after kids of all ages is all important and most cruise line design amazing kids’ activities for all ages – even for those teenagers who are glued to their phones.

I is for Itineraries

There is sure to be an itinerary that meets your needs, with multi stop action packed itineraries, slow relaxing river boat cruising and Trans-Atlantic crossings with many days at sea to enjoy the onboard amenities.  Itineraries are updated every year, so it is very common to have clients coming back year after year.  Whether you are wanting to climb the Great Wall of China, go wildlife spotting in Alaska, visit a private island in the Caribbean or simple relax and sail up the Mekong River, there is an itinerary for you.

L is for Luxury

For those that want time away from children, then one of the luxury adults only cruise lines may be more to your liking.  For all the kid friendly vessels in the market, there are just as many adult only cruise lines.   So, whether it be a cruise around New Zealand with Seabourn or a European cruise with Crystal there is plenty to choose from.  If having your own butler, spa treatments and all-inclusive shore excursions sounds like you then this may be the style for you.

Cruising comes in all shapes and sizes and we hope today to have dispelled some of the myths around cruising.  If you have any specific questions about cruising, please do not hesitate to contact Tina and Mel from MTA Travel.
