Santorini

Is there anywhere else in the world quite like Santorini? Nestled in the Aegean Sea, Santorini will steal your heart, just as it did with mine. I spent 6 nights on this stunning island and quite simply – I did not want to leave. The white washed cliff top towns along the jagged coastline with views out over the caldera were absolutely breathtaking. Especially at sunset when the sky becomes the most gorgeous hue of oranges, pinks and yellows, a mix of the most vivid and warm colours, just the like the locals. Every night we found a different vantage point to enjoy the view, a cold drink and the local food. Food which is just so fresh I still can’t replicate the Greek Salad, I think it’s the sweetest, reddest, juiciest tomatoes that make the difference! Oh and then of course, there’s the dark rich coffee and baklava.
This is a destination where you can walk and swim and explore the ancient history or simply switch off from the world and just breathe and take in all the beauty and relax. I certainly did both and would recommend the full day trip out to the caldera (volcano) where we hiked the caldera, swam in the thermal waters of Palaia Kameni, enjoyed the freshest seafood at Thirassia before sailing back to Oia to watch the sunset. One of the most perfect days that lingers in my memory.
There are many Greek Islands to explore and I would suggest that when you visit, you make Santorini one of them.
