Máncora, Peru
Looking for a new beach destination; something outside the norm?
Máncora may not be a place which immediately springs to mind (at least for me it's not) but I was just reading about it and it sounds like a little slice of paradise.
Peru’s beach gem on the northern coast, with white sandy beaches, turquoise waters, and a relaxed atmosphere, is a haven for surfers, ocean lovers, and sun-seekers alike.
In the words of Conde Nast Traveller, it’s “a surf spot undiscovered enough to feel fresh and exciting, but still able to provide a turndown service.” Or what I would call barefoot luxury!
Getting Here:
Most travellers would fly to Lima, and then take a connecting service to Talara. From there, it’s a scenic hour-long drive to Máncora.
As you get closer, the waters of the Pacific Ocean start to change and that’s because the warm El Niño currents mix with the cooler Humboldt stream, creating a unique marine playground that’s rich with marine life.
Whale Watching:
From July to October, humpback whales can be spotted making their annual journey along the coast. Beyond the whales, the waters around Máncora are teeming with dolphins, sea lions, and the blue-footed boobies!
Máncora caters for everyone – you can surf, go deep-sea fishing, snorkel or scuba diving. Or for those who just want to unwind, the golden sands and perfect sunsets are more than enough to fill a day.
Máncora is a little slice of Peruvian paradise that’s waiting to make your beach dreams come true. So pack your bags, bring your sense of adventure, and get ready for some serious beach bliss!
