Paris Travel

The best way to access Paris from the UK is the Eurostar. You will leave central London at the St Pancras station and just 2 hours 40 minutes later you will be in central Paris. The advantages over flying to Paris are huge – no long journeys out to the airport, 30 minutes check in vs 1 hour check in at the airports and when you arrive in Paris you are already in the city centre.

The best mode of transport in Paris is the Metro, the underground train system, inexpensive and easy to use even if you do not speak French. Make sure you book your Paris hotel with me before you leave Australia, its a popular city and the best hotels book out quickly.

Although I love the usual tourist spots like the museums, the Eiffel Tower, Notre dame Cathedral etc. my favourite site is  the Sacre Coeur Cathedral in the Montmartre area. This is a beautiful cathedral but the highlight for me is the artist corner behind the cathedral. Here you will pick up some lovely artwork from the local artists, you can even watch the artists paint whilst sipping on your Café au lait. My other favourite things to do in Paris are visiting the Palace of Versailles, local perfumeries, the jazz bars of the Latin quarter and the creperies… mmm,  bon appetite!
