Paris is always a good idea

Audrey Hepburn once said… “Paris is always a good idea.”

There is something magical about the City of Love; an irresistible charm and an inexplicable beauty. Every turn is a surprise, and every corner is picture postcard.

A trip to Paris would not be complete without a photo moment at the Eiffel Tower. No amount of words can describe the majestic feeling of standing before (or under) the iconic structure. Nothing else comes close to being right there at Eiffel Tower Paris when the lights switch on at dusk – the part of the world where everyone dreams to be.

Take a morning stroll along the River Seine, watch the locals playing Petanque (the French version of boules) and head across to Notre Dame, also known as “Our Lady of Paris”. Be in awe of the cathedral’s French Gothic architecture and take time to sit on the outdoor benches to watch the world go by.

There is also a museum perfect for every artistic taste in Paris, from the outstanding collection of masterpieces at the Louvre Museum to the intimate setting of the Rodin Museum’s sculpture garden or the outrageous colours of the modern Pompidou Centre or the Musee D’Orsay which is housed in a train station. Many of Paris’ museums are located in buildings just as artistic and beautiful as the collections they present.

One of Paris’ grandest monuments, the Arc de Triomphe was built to celebrate Napoleon’s victory at Austerlitz in 1806. Today it honours the soldiers who fought and died in the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars and World War I. Walk around to see the carved names of generals and important events or climb to the top for an excellent view overlooking Paris.

Paris is also home to some of the best restaurants and shopping in the world. With patisseries and choclatiers everywhere, no matter which street you are on, you will be spoilt for choices. Even the most basic croissant from any Parisian neighborhood shop is hard to beat and you really must try a world famous Ladurée macarons.

Stroll down Avenue des Champs-Élysées & Avenue Montaigne where some of the most chic shops are located and enjoy exquisite window shopping at some of the world’s biggest names in fashion. Galleries Lafayette and Printemps are heavenly spots for shoppers! You’ll find a little bit of everything at these huge department stores. Even if you’re not a shopper, do stop in Galleries Lafayette to see the beautiful Art Nouveau glass dome in the centre of the store. If you are in the mood for some shopping, be sure to pick up your 10% tourist discount card at the information desk upon arrival!
