New York is a fantastic place to celebrate the holidays!
In 2013 I was there for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and even though it was freezing, it was a great experience to watch all the amazing floats come down 6th Ave!
I have also spent a Christmas there watching the Rockettes at the Radio City Christmas Spectacular and New Year's Eve in Times Square to see the famous ball drop.
