USA
My family’s most recent trip to the USA was definitely one of our best. It was a six week whirlwind where we really did a bit of everything and experienced some of the best that the USA has to offer. We started off in Steamboat Springs, Colorado where a White Christmas awaited us. Not only did we snowboard and ski on the fantastic “Champagne Powder” that Steamboat is famous for, but we also took the kids sleigh riding in a “one horse open sleigh”, singing Jingle Bells as we went, swam in the hot springs, saw carolers going door to door singing and did the traditional Christmas Light night drive around in a town where snowmen at Christmas time made absolute sense. It was magical.
From here we headed to Orlando, home of the theme parks and did them all. New Year’s Eve at the Magic Kingdom was amazing and the fireworks here and at Epcot were spectacular. It was a busy time but we managed to see and do everything we wanted to and the kids really had a ball. Disney sure knows a thing or two about making dreams come true, and our breakfast with the Princesses at the Magic Kingdom Castle was a special highlight for my little ones.
Universal didn’t disappoint with the Wizarding World of Harry Potter being a major draw card. Amazing! After two weeks of parks, buffet restaurants and sixteen hour days we took a more leisurely route spending the next two weeks on a Carnival Cruise around the Caribbean. It was beautiful with each destination being better than the last. Crystal blue waters, swimming with dolphins, seeing Mayan Ruins, gorgeous beaches, pirate ships… the list simply goes on and on of everything we did and saw. The cruise itself was fantastic, we easily spent our time at sea relaxing, going to the shows and activities that were on offer and spending time on the waterslide and pools with the kids. Oh and the food! Let’s just say I am exercising madly to get rid of the “cruise kilos” that inevitably creep on.
Now I just need to save up so I can do it all again!
