General Tips

1. It is better to pre-book as much of your holiday where possible e.g. day tours, car hire etc.  This will ensure you will not miss out on anything and you will not have to watch your budget whilst away on holidays.

2. Register your travels with Smarttraveller.gov.au so you are able to be contacted by the Australian Government should the need arise.  Leave a copy of your passport and travel itineraries at home with a close relative or friend.

3. Low cost carriers and the "lowest airfares" are not always the best value or direct route. Once you add up additional costs for luggage, credit card fees, stopover accommodation and meals, amongst other things, you might have been better to travel on a premium carrier.

4. Make your travel arrangements with a licenced travel agent rather than over the internet. At least you have a point of contact whilst you are away and you can be sure you are protected.  In most cases, travel agents use the same suppliers that the internet providers use, therefore we are very competitive.

5. Always consider taking out travel insurance once you pay for your deposit.  The cheapest policies may not give you full cover so read the PDS statements carefully and choose one right for you.1.
