Las Vegas Baby (kids in tow)

Vegas! You think casinos, parties and shiny bright lights? There is so much more to this one of a kind city once you’ve experienced the expected. Ensure that before you tick off the shiny bright lights, you visit the historical Neon Museum which is essentially an eclectic graveyard for all of the famous neon lights from yesterday.

Travelling a short distance from the city that never sleeps, get your nature fix by visiting The Springs Preserve; a botanical garden housing the largest collection of cacti plants. A bucket list beauty is of course the iconic Grand Canyon and I always recommend to fly it; don’t drive it. However taking the coach / helicopter option once grounded means you get to truly experience it all.

An up and coming due to open in September this year is The MSG Sphere; ‘a creative canvas so bold and bright you can see it from space!’. The Sphere will be the home of events and world class concerts that can accommodate up to 20,000 guests and its spherical shape is set to add to the list iconic attractions in Vegas.

Having now travelled 3 times with kids (and twice without), I must share my tips on how to make this desination exciting for the younger generation. Bright lights (with cocktail in parents’ hand); a walk down the strip taking in the atmosphere is a must. The Fountains of Bellagio are spectacular and will leave the little eyes in awe. During daylight hours, a visit to The Tank at Golden Nugget is pretty exciting; so long as they’re happy to experience a slide that ventures through an aquarium full of sharks. The kids will love the multitude of activities at The Adventuredrome at Circus Circus or exploring The Discovery Children’s Museum. End the day with a ride on the Las Vegas High Roller Observation Wheel (kids 6 and under are free) where you can truly take in a Birds Eye view of the famous Strip. If you are child-free you can take advantage of their happy hour pods with a drink in hand and vibrant music.

A trip to Vegas is incomplete without visiting Fremont Street, the city’s original birthplace, with its colourful light displays and zip line and only about a 5 minute walk away is The Container Park where you can enjoy a wide selection of eateries and takeaways served from a creative arrangement of shipping containers and a fabulous children’s park with intermittent live entertainment close by.

When it comes to accommodation, Aria is a personal favourite of mine with incredible service, brilliant location (free tram runs between Aria and Bellagio) and a great selection of rooms catering to every need. The lounge is a lovely place to grab a slice of peace with tasty canapes and drinks. My clients who stay in the Sky Suites love the exclusive Virtuoso amenities offering USD100 resort credit, complimentary breakfast, upgrade on arrival and more.

Finally a dining experience not to miss is Blackout Dining in the Dark; a sensory dining experience. The name says it all, forget presentation, forget your phones and immerse yourself in a sensation of sight-free culinary discovery. Being vegan, I may be biased as the menu is 100% plant based but this seriously is a culinary experience that all should enjoy!

Being a part of the exclusive virtuoso network, we can make the unimaginable happen; a Grand Canyon or Strip wedding in a helicopter, Michelin star restaurant booking, VIP show tickets, Day Spa entry, Nanny recommendation’s or almost anything you can imagine, we have the connections to make this happen with thanks to our in incredible Virtuoso network.
