Egypt & the Nile with Uniworld – An Adventure to Remember
This trip truly opened my eyes to the magnificence of Egypt!
As part of Uniworld’s Golden 50th Anniversary celebration, I had the opportunity to experience their Nile itinerary firsthand, and what an adventure it was.
We began in Cairo, where the Pyramids of Giza and the Great Sphinx were every bit as impressive as you imagine. Although, I have to admit, seeing them in person makes you realise just how very small you are!
We also visited the spectacular Grand Egyptian Museum before flying to Luxor and boarding the S.S. Sphinx for our journey along the Nile.
And then… the temples!
Over the following days, we explored some truly extraordinary places:
The magnificent Temple of Karnak
Beautiful Luxor Temple
The Valley of the Kings and Temple of Hatshepsut
The fascinating Temple of Kom Ombo
The stunning Temple of Philae
The impressive Aswan High Dam
And the wonderfully atmospheric Temple of Hathor at Dendera
Every day seemed to bring another "wow" moment.
One of my favourite parts of the journey was simply cruising the Nile. Watching villages, palm trees and everyday Egyptian life drift past while relaxing onboard was such a contrast to the incredible ancient sites we were exploring.
We even enjoyed a traditional felucca ride and afternoon tea at the legendary Old Cataract Hotel in Aswan, where Agatha Christie famously wrote Death on the Nile. Thankfully, our journey had considerably less mystery and murder!
Why a Nile cruise?
Having now experienced it myself, I can see why cruising the Nile is such a wonderful way to explore Egypt.
You unpack once, enjoy the comfort of your ship, and wake up each day ready for another incredible experience. Add in expert Egyptologists, wonderful hospitality and Uniworld's attention to detail, and you have a pretty special way to see this fascinating country.
As a travel advisor, experiencing a destination firsthand is incredibly valuable. I can now recommend this journey not just because I've read about it. I've been there, walked the temples, cruised the Nile and survived the Egyptian heat! ????
Egypt was unforgettable, and I have come home with plenty of stories, photos and a renewed appreciation for this remarkable destination.
If Egypt and the Nile are on your travel wish list, let's chat. I'd love to help you experience it for yourself. ?????????
