Sydney

My family and I recently travelled to Sydney for a birthday celebration. We only stayed for 3 nights but we could easily have stayed a week.

Sydney has so much to offer, especially for families, with Taronga Park Zoo being a highlight for us all. We travelled the day by ferry, on a 24 hour Ferry Pass, which began in Darling Harbour, taking us to Circular Quay (under the Bridge) and onto the Zoo. Then a great trip on the harbour down to the heads and then onto Manly for lunch. On our return we took the super-fast ferry back to Circular Quay. A great day exploring Sydney by water.

If water travel is not for you, another great way to see Sydney is by Double Decker open top Bus. We purchased a 24 hour family ticket, which did a circle of the city, enabling us to disembark at any of the stops along the way, including the Opera House, and rejoin the bus when it circled again. We also hopped onto the other coach route, on the same ticket, which took us to Bondi Beach. Fabulous day.

A fantastic place to take the children is Darling Quarter. Only 5 minutes from our hotel and adjacent to the Imax Theatre, Darling Harbour. It is a great location and so much fun for the children. There is a multitude of play equipment including water games, climbing ropes, swings, slides, and a flying fox. And it is all free.

There are many eateries adjacent to the play areas, as well as the tourist information office.

It is a very relaxing area for parents, and a fun place for the children. We enjoyed it so much, we made 3 trips to Darling Quarter.
