Kingmik Dog Sledding Tour – Lake Louise Canada

My husband and I enjoyed a trip to Lake Louise in Canada where we did the morning dog sledding tour which starts at 10am. They have an outdoor meeting place on the road up to Lake Louise which is about a 10 min walk from the Deer Lodge and Fairmont Chateau. They have all their dogs in their little truck cubbies that are needed for the 3 runs of the day.

Megan the owner of the company is very hands on and you can tell that she loves her dogs and takes very good care of them. We had a private sled for the two of us and our musher Morgan was just excellent! We couldn’t say enough nice things about him. He gave us information about the dogs and dog sledding though the whole ride and he just really knew his dogs well and really loved them. The track is a 10 mile return loop. We had a gorgeous group of dogs in our sled; Hudson, Mash, Wiggins, Dee, Gravel, Lexi, Sprochet and Garnett.  Garnett is such a beautiful dog and was such a little character, providing us with many laughs.

We spent about half hour before our tour cuddling and playing with the dogs which is allowed. You are provided with a sleeping bag to sit in for the duration of your sled tour, as it does get cold – we had temps of -16 degrees Celsius! All the dogs are Alaskan Husky's which is a mixed breed of dog specialised for athletics and endurance. I would suggest that you book in advance as the tours are very popular and you do not want to miss out. This tour is worth every dollar spent and we loved every minute! It was the best tour we have ever done and I would highly recommend this when on your trip to Lake Louise.
