Jungle Feels in Sri Lanka

We stayed at the Deer Park in Giritale, Polonnaruwa in Sri Lanka for just 1 night and it was such an alternate experience and I loved it.

We had a 2 storey townhouse right in front of the pool. The rooms had a lounge area at the bottom and king size bed upstairs, TV reception is a bit patchy but the scenery overtakes the TV. The bathroom is extra special as it is outdoors, which I found as a great novelty.

Rooms were clean and comfortable and very cute and out of the ordinary. The pool was wonderful after a hot day of sightseeing. The property gardens are very well maintained with an abundance of wildlife from squirrels to monkeys it was great to just sit back and watch the animals. It really felt like staying in your own wildlife park. The monkeys are friendly however you wouldn't go and pet them or leave any food laying around if you're by the pool.

This hotel is in a very remote location so there aren't any other options for meals except to eat in the hotel restaurant. The restaurant doesn't open until 7:30pm and after a long day of sightseeing you are most likely starving by 7:30 so make sure to grab some snacks with you during the day to keep in your room in case you can't wait until dinner. The food however was lovely and the restaurant is very large with outdoor dining also available - watch the monkeys though.

The little sports bar next to the restaurant is great for a pre dinner drink and game of pool. Overall I loved this hotel as it was just so unique.

If you love the unusual and like to get up close and personal with nature then this is the hotel for you.
