What to Pack...

Packing your suitcase for your holiday can be a stressful and procrastinated task that no one wants to do. Try these packing tips next time your packing up for your next adventure.

  • Buy the lightest suitcase possible. You have a limited weight allowance why waste 1/5 of it with a heavy and bulky suitcase. Also make sure you have one with 4 wheels. Makes waiting in lines a lot easier as you can just wheel on through.
  • Pack your bag and then re pack. Pack the clothes you want for your trip and then take all the clothes out and repack again only adding half of what your originally had.
  • Take a warm jacket. Doesn't matter where you are going a warm jacket will always come in handy and there is nothing worse than being cold.
  • Comfortable walking shoes. You walk more on holidays than you do anywhere else. Leave the fancy heels at home and take some comfortable walking shoes or boots. Nothing worse than stopping for band aids every few hours.
  • Travel Wallet - leave your purse at home and take a travel wallet with your essentials. Leave all your non essential cards at home.e.g medicare, loyalty cards, metro cards etc.
Travel Wallets have seperate compartments you can put your flight tickets, all travel vouchers, insurance info, cash cards, foreign currency and passport all together in the one spot.
  • Currency. Make sure to have both foreign currency and cash card with you when travelling. You don't want a huge wad of cash on you that may get stolen. Set up a cash currency card which you can use as a credit card overseas. These cards are good there are no transaction fees or linked to your bank accounts at home.
  • Roll your clothes. I've always found i have a lot more room in my suitcase when i roll my clothes up rather than folding.
  • Double Adaptor. I always take a double adaptor or powerboard with me saves having to have multiple foreign port chargers. Ipads, Cameras, Phones, etc all need their own powerpoint. Powerboards have been great for us when travelling. We also have a USB powered charger which is less bulk in your suitcase.
  • Notify your bank of your travel if you are taking your own bank cards. If they see foreign transactions your accounts may be suspended. Also register your travel with smart traveller.
  • There are so many tips for packing your suitcase and getting ready for your trip but these will have you off to a good start.
