Palm Springs to Las Vegas

The drive from Palm Springs to Las Vegas is about 4 hours.
We got up early to beat the desert summer heat and left Palm Springs at 7am after filling up with Gas. Surprisingly the Mustang has been very fuel efficient. We got back on highway 10 towards LA before heading west out towards Las Vegas. The drive is easy and you stay on the highways the whole time. There are a few rest stops along the way but can be few and far between.
We passed a lot of windfarms along the way. Barstow is a town just off the highway to stop at and have lunch. There is an In n Out burger there and also some Outlet shopping to break up the drive.

We arrived in Vegas at 11am. We dropped out bags off at the hotel and dropped off the rental car at the return centre. Be sure to use the GPS to return the car we ended up going up a one way street and coming face to face with a limo which resulted in our first lovers tif of the holiday.
Las Vegas Airport has a rental centre just outside the airport where all cars are picked up and dropped off. It is super easy to use and there are shuttles that take you to the terminals.
We caught the shuttle back to the airport and a taxi from there to the hotel. We checked into the New York New York.  Our room has a view of the rollercoaster and pool. The rooms are large, beautifully furnished but no fridge in the room. If a fridge is required for medical reasons one can be requested. The blackout curtains are also amazing!

We took a walk around NYNY and took in the huge gaming floor and the little NYC which has its own little food court of Pizza’s, Italian Steaks, gourmet burgers, set in the quaint little streets of the West Village of New York.
We then braved the 41 degrees outside and ventured down the strip. We stopped at the Miracle Mile Shops which are located in the Planet Hollywood. We booked Dinner at Blondie’s Sports Bar for Par’s bucks night and strolled further down to Caesars and the Bellagio looking for spots for our wedding pictures.

After melting from the heat we caved and went into the Forum shops and ordered our wedding cakes from the Cheesecake Factory. We ordered a Salted Caramel, Oreo & White Chocolate Raspberry Truffle.  Of course we had to have our own taste tasters too while we were there ????

Grabbed Hotdogs for a late lunch from the NYNY Yum! Our Cirque Du Solei Zumanity show was cancelled so we rebooked for the next night and grabbed some pizza slices from NYNY. We wandered across the footbridge to the Excalibur at to Dick’s Last Resort where we booked dinner for my hen’s night and looked around the Excalibur. The food court at the Excalibur is the best! Lots of places to get a good well priced meal and a huge variety of options.
Also home to the Thunder Down Under show.

We crossed the footbridge again and into the MGM had a snoop though the gaming floor. The footbridges are so helpful in Vegas you can hop between casinos without having to go down to the streetlevel.
Then stopped in at Canyon Gifts and Souvenirs to grab some Vegas souvenirs. This place has a huge variety of gifts and pretty well priced.
Even at midnight the temperatures outside were still in the high 30's.
We retreated back to the room around midnight after a very hot but exciting day in Vegas.
