I have been in the hospitality industry for over 30 years.
I started when I was in my teenage years from waitressing to hotel banqueting, hotel reception with rostered work hours to the travel industry - basically, from the bottom up - so I know very well the expectations of customer wants and needs.
When I was in my 20's, I went to Germany and worked/stayed there for about 5 years after working in the hotel industry in Malaysia for a couple of years prior. Now almost 30 years down the road, I still speak passable German!!
I then left Germany and went back to Malaysia and started working in the travel industry at one of the largest travel agency in Malaysia at that time. It was a very good company as I learnt alot from them whilst working there; I got to take tours/go on famils to Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines and South Africa; sold loads of tours and gained heaps of experience selling round-the-world tickets; my speciality!
After about 9 years, I left Malaysia to work in Papua New Guinea. It was a totally different work experience for sure!
**One of the consultants that I left my bookings to when I left Malaysia, met me a few years later and I still remembered what she said: "I was so freaked out with the number of bookings you left for me as there were so many round-the-world trips in there!"
In Port Moresby, I was the Corporate Travel Manager at the largest travel agency there - Travel Services Ltd. I worked there for over 7 years.
I'm proud to say I've consistently been either the 1st and 2nd highest achiever at this company in the time I was working there.
I helped the company set-up simpler processes (my previous experience working for the actual GDS (Global Distributioin System) helped heaps!) where the staff could create bookings faster and more efficiently and over the years, the company has increased the staff numbers to more than triple when I left 7 years later.
As my son was about to start secondary school, we decided to leave Papua New Guinea so he can start his secondary schooling in Cairns, Australia and that's where I've been ever since.
My love of travel and creating memorable experiences for my customers - I still am in contact with some of my customers from Malaysia and Papua New Guinea and they are really happy when I tell them I'm back in the travel industry again - my first love!
I would love to provide the same kind of service to travellers again.
It is always a good feeling of accomplishment when you find the best possible route and fares for your customers based on what their needs are and those customers just come back to you time and again for their travel needs.
I am now a Cairns local and will be more than happy to help you with all your travel needs wherever you may be departing from - whether it's flights, hotels, car rentals, transfers or cruises – for work or leisure.
Previous experience
I've worked in this industry - about 9years in Malaysia (Reliance Travel) and over 7years in Papua New Guinea (Travel Services Ltd).
When I was with Reliance Travel, I've worked as tour consultant, travel /flight consultant, sales executive as well as a short stint helping out our accounts team when they were short staffed (bank runs, reportings etc) as any extra 'work' is not deemed as work but an added check to my knowledge.
