A short, scenic ferrry ride from Auckland is the stunning Waiheke Island. If you love wineries and beaches, with a laid back feel, this is the island for you. We loved our scenic flight over the island with Waiheke Wings, and the great hop on hop off bus. The bus takes you all around the island, with great commentary, and the bonus......no need to drive (which helps with the wine tasting!
