OVATION OF THE SEAS - REVITALISED APRIL 2026
I embarked on the first cruise after the ship came out of Drydock in Singapore 17 April 2026. A few small glitches to start but so many great new features.
Updates include:
- The Pesky Parrot bar which overlooks the promenade (Bionic Bar used to take up this space)
- Giovannis has replaced Jamies (I actually preferred Jamies menu) however the food we ordered was absolutely delicious
- The Casino has doubled in size taking over the lower level of the old Music Hall, had 1/2 smoking 1/2 non-smoking. As there were alot of Aussies onboard there weren't too many smokers in the Casino
- Izumi Teppanyaki has replaced Wonderland, there was so much food we could not fit it in
- Starbucks has replaced La Patisserie
- Revamped pool deck with tropical theme and new private cabanas and a new whirlpool
- Approx 40 additional cabins and suites inlcuding the multi-story Ultimate Family Suite
- The Sound Cellar is a new music club on deck 4
I don't normally dine in the main dining room as much, but this time we really enjoyed the variety and the service was great.
The Schooner bar did not let us down, always a great time with awesome tunes and the bar staff were the best!
Embarkation in Singapore was a breeze, super quick, had a cocktail in hand within 10 minutes, can't say that for the arrival in Tokyo, it was pouring with rain and it has not much cover which delayed the customs process, they really need to upgrade facilities here.
This cruise we docked in Danang, Hong Kong; Taipei, Nagasaki, Kobe (overnight I loved this), Shimizu.
I would definitely go on a similar 14 night itinerary from Singapore to Tokyo or even in reverse again and hopefully experience some different Japanese ports along the way.
