Singapore
I have stayed in Singapore many times and in many hotels. The Marina Bay Sands is one of the newer iconic hotels with the sailboat top and three towers, with infinity pool and bars on the rooftop. The hotel also has great shopping, dining and casino below the hotel and is linked by an MRT transport.
On this occasion we decided to stay in Little India and stayed at the Fragrance Elegance Hotel. The hotel was cheap and the rooms very small, but the location and price certainly made up for it. With Singapore’s transport system and taxis being cheap it is almost possible to stay anywhere.
On this trip we decided to do two attractions that are quite new to Singapore. The first was the Singapore Flyer the largest Ferris wheel in the world. The journey takes around 40 minutes and gives a spectacular view of Singapore. The location again is easy to get to by MRT or taxi. The cost is around AUD$30 per person.
The next attraction was the brand new Gardens by the Bay, this is in front of the iconic Marina Bay Sands Hotel. Here you can wander through the amazing gardens, 2 conservatories with beautiful plants and different foliage. There is also an aerial walkway over the gardens and an escorted bus service. The bus would be good given the gardens are quite large and the temperature in Singapore is generally quite hot.
The bus costs SGD$5 along with the walkway at SGD$5. The two conservatories cost SGD$28. Not exactly cheap, but well worth it as it is so much different to any normal gardens. There are lots of places to eat and have coffee and one of the amazing Sculpture Trees also has an IndoChine restaurant. Although quite pricey the view from the top would be something special.
